About me
I come from a BIG, Irish/Italian Catholic family. (9 kids, 2nd in line)
I was first of 9 to receive any continued education after highschool.
I have been a licensed Cosmetologist for a little over 6 years now and am still paying off my student loans...there weren't any scholarship programs for a vocational school student.
My twin sister later enlisted in the US Marine Corps. was medically discharged and went on to Police Academy and is now a patroling officer in Hodgkins, IL
My older brother, a few student loans and 3 kids later was finally able to continue his education, a vocational school so no scholarships available.
My youngest brother attends College of DuPage, no scholarships available because of combined household income, regardless how many kids in the home to support.
1 of my 5 sister's also attends College of DuPage, same story for her.
I am now a single mom of the best son God could have graced me with.
As a single mom, this organization is even more brightening towards my son's future, possible for him to receive a better education than I could afford to provide for him.
My family history
On the Pintozzi side (my mom's side), my Grandpa's father came to America on a boat from Italy when he was 14.
On the Davis side (my mom's side), my Grandma's grandparent's, on her father's side, came to America from Ireland.
College, of course, is not the only way to be successful. It all depends on the career we chose to follow. Some careers need a college/vocational school education, others don't. It sure would be nice for those that chose the path that requires continued education to have somewhere to go, should they need assistance in financing their education.
